Northern Polar Light
Northern polar lights occur mostly between September and March. As charged electrons carried by the sun arrive in the earth’s magnetosphere and subsequently collide with atoms from the earth’s upper atmosphere, light is emitted. The green color in the picture comes from atomic oxygen or nitrogen ions.
